Who we are
This Is Our Story
Captain Billy’s Whiz Bang is the brainchild of Todd Douglas. Having played as a side man in dozens of bands for years he felt lead to try and make the world a better place using the skills he developed in that time.
In the fall of 2020 Todd dedicated his time to writing, recording, and mixing original music. Having played everything from hardcore punk to mellow country, the songs that emerged covered a wide range of styles.
Shari Lynn agreed to lend her vocal talents to the endevour a year later. She has also been singing on tracks for the band New Law Nightmare.
Charlie Key is a dedicated drummer who is joining the band for live shows.

What’s with that name?
Todd Douglas heard the name “Captain Billy’s Whiz Bang” in the movie “The Music Man” and thought it was funny and different. The name comes from a magazine published in the early 20th century by a WWI fighter pilot. The magazine featured racy jokes, stories, and cartoons.

Why are we doing this?
There are so many times in our lives when music was able to lift our spirits, change our perspective, or give us a new insight into the world around us. We want to make that same impact in the lives of others.

Who writes the songs?
Todd Douglas is the primary song writer. He does seek input from the other band members and actively works to colaborate with other musicians outside the band. We can always learn something from others and we get better results when we work together.
